Here’s an awesome Open Guard Drill to improve your transitions and control. The Open Guard is one of the most difficult guards to master in BJJ since there are so many options, and you can easily get overwhelmed.
In this open guard drill you will go through many guards, including reverse De La Riva, regular De La Riva, Lasso, Spider, Single Leg X, and X-Guard.
Try this drill with your partner and let me know how it goes!

great drill Professor! Oss!
Thanks William!
Buenísimo 👌👌👌👍 siempre me costó hacer eso
Obrigado Damian!
This is a great drill. It reminds me of the drill you have for the various side mount positions, that is in your side mount tutorial. I can hardly wait until Covid is over to try it.
Thanks Rick, it’s a fun drill!
@MMA Leech OSS very good, thank you………………… but here I see a smal risk to get into the triangle 6:39
What do you mean ?
@Andreas Kunze sure, I should have connected my knee to my elbow/forearm a bit earlier like I show in this video https://youtu.be/8NkR6w0EaT0
but that final transition into top half-guard isn’t really the focus of the video, I’m just allowing my partner to set up his half-guard so he can initiate his own drill, anyway, it looked a little sloppy, no excuses.
Good catch
👍
@MMA Leech

What are you going to do pull guard in a street fight? It is sad but true 🙁
